Punjabi Rajma Masala Curry - Easy Homemade Recipe

Rajma Masala Curry is a popular vegetarian North Indian dish particular Punjabi. It is made by cooking red kidney beans in a thick tomato gravy with many Indian whole spices, till soft and mushy. It is usually served with rice, but it also tastes good with naan or chapati.

Ingredients (for 2-3 people):

Rajma (Soaked overnight) : 1 cup
Onions : 1/2 cup, sliced
Tomatoes : 1 cup, chopped
Ginger-Garlic paste : 2 tbsp
Rajma Masala powder:  2-3 tbsp
Salt: To taste
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tbsp
Red chilli powder : 1 tbsp
Oil: 4-5 tbsp
Cumin seeds : For tempering

Method :

Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. Add onions and fry till golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for 1-2 minutes. Now, add Rajma masala powder, salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder along with little water and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 4-5 minutes, till tender. Now add soaked rajma and mix well. Add 2 glass ( ~ 300ml) of water and pressure cook for 15-20 minutes, till desired consistency.
Serve hot with rice.
