Gulab Jamun ki Sabji | Jodhpuri Style Recipe

Gulab Jamun is a very popular sweet dish but have you tasted its sabji!? Yes! you heard it right! Gulab Jamun Sabji is a very popular Royal Jodhpuri dish that is made by using dry gulab jamuns in cashew nut paste and curd gravy. And, you can easily make it at home. So, wanna try something interesting? Then, let's begin!

Prep. time : 10 min.
Cooking time : 20 min.
Serves : 3-4 persons

Ingredients for Gulab Jamun Sabji :


Gulab jamun (Dry) - 7-10 no.
Onion paste - 1/2 cup
Cashew nut paste - 1/4 cup
(You can make it by soaking cashews in warm water for about 30 min. and then grind it in food processor)
Beaten Curd - 1/2 cup
Hot milk (not boiling) - 1/2 glass
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp.
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp.
Coriander powder - 1/2 tbsp.
Salt - To taste
Ghee - 2 tbsp.
Whole spices (cumin, black pepper, cloves, bayleaf) - For tempering
Few cashews and raisins for garnishing

Method :

1. Heat ghee in a kadhai (deep-fry pan). Add whole spices and wait till they start crackling.
2. Add onion paste and cook on low flame till it turns slightly brown. Then, add cashew nut paste and cook till golden brown.
3. Add all the spices (red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt) and cook on low flame till ghee separates.
4. Add beaten curd, mix well and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
5. Take gulab jamuns in a bowl, pour hot milk and let them soak for 2-3 minutes. By absorbing milk they will become soft and spongy. But Do NOT soak them for a long time otherwise they become soggy and will crumble.
6. Transfer them to the gravy, mix well and let them sit for 1-2 minutes.
7. Garnish with cashews and raisins and serve hot with chapati or rice.
